Many years have passed since I became a refugee of war from the former Yugoslavia, when I understood that it was a blessing in disguise. That life lesson of escaping, losing all you have, all that defines who you are. That experience no one would like to go through which in the end shows you losing everything can give you even more, turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to me.
The real measure of your wealth is how much you would be worth if you lost all.
To establish a new life in the US I was able to transfer my Structural Engineering Degree to the United States. I worked in the Structural Engineering field for 10 years in Yugoslavia, and 15 years in USA, before I decided to become an artist.
The decision to create art full time did not come lightly, but winning the First Place People’s Choice Award in a prestigious gallery show, while showing my first drawing, “Pluto Abduction Persephone”, and the consequent sale of it upon the show opening, made it easier.
Following that recognition as a self-taught artist, I continued to explore different mediums and ways of showing my emotions and putting my soul’s message into the paintings. Creative expression is essential to the flow of my life, as I strive to create that final product, which would speak to you in a language requiring no words, conveying a message that everyone can feel.
Today, I work exclusively in the digital medium as a graphic designer and illustrator. I am proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Corel Painter.
